Wow, sorry about the lack of updates folks. The last time I updated was Thursday. I went straight from class to home in Aberdeen. A classmate, Ben and I decided to carpool since he lives in Delaware. He dropped me off at about midnight and we split the gas so it only cost me half as much as the last time I went home. That was fantastic, especially since gas prices are through the roof. It just jumped to $3.99 today.
So Friday, not much happened. I hung out with the family, relaxed in the hot tub for a bit and then watched a movie with Heather and Hope. It's always nice when the three of us can get together as it doesn't happen that often.
Saturday was nice. I think it was around 70 degrees out. I went to visit TALMAR and all my friends there. I picked flowers for my mom and Michelle (Ed's daughter) since it was her birthday on Sunday.
Sunday we planted some gardenias in pots for mom. They smell great and bring back memories from Hawaii! Then we headed to church where I saw Pastor Bill. I haven't seen him since before I was sick. I didn't have long to chat afterwards, but I made sure I said hello to him and explained that I have been in Ohio for the last few months. I'm planning on sending a letter and donation once I have some free time. After church, Braydon came over and we 'hid' Easter eggs for him to 'find.' He was so cute holding auntie's hands and walking to each egg, picking it up and putting it in the bucket. I think he had a blast. I also took him down to the creek and stuck his little toes in the water for the first time. After that, we headed to Michelle's house for a late lunch/early dinner. We had ham, turkey, potatoes, green bean casserole, etc. and it was delicious! I also met Isabelle, Michelle's daughter for the first time. She looks exactly like Michelle!
After eating, I headed home to meet Ben and continue on our journey back to Nelsonville. We made it back on time, despite the VERY thick fog, but unfortunately it was about 2300 (11:00 p.m.) when we arrived. I didn't bother to look at the schedule for this week because I was so tired that I just went straight to bed. We were scheduled for PT this morning at 0600 (6:00 a.m.) but I kept waking up all throughout the night and never got much rest. I missed PT and then looked at the schedule this morning to find that we have three LONG days in a row. Today we had class from 0800 (8:00 a.m.) until 2000 (8:00 p.m.) with a one hour lunch break and one hour dinner break built in. I have the same schedule for tomorrow and Wednesday I have first aid so I will have class until 2130 (9:30 p.m.). It's quite a long week, but today wasn't too bad. We were working on patrol tactics. Basically we set up a few cruisers and 'bad guy' vehicles. We practiced our different approach techniques and towards the end of the day, we used our real guns with training blocks so they couldn't actually fire rounds. We practiced getting shot at from different positions and had to find cover and return fire very quickly. It got my hear rate up and made for some really good training. Tomorrow we go right back out to the field and do it again all day long. This time we are up against the instructors so it will probably be a little more difficult. Be safe everyone!
