My mom was supposed to be at my house at approximately 1830 (6:30 p.m). She was flying in to CMH (Columbus Airport) and then renting a car and driving an hour to my house. So when I got out of class at 1700 (5:00 p.m.) I hurried up and took a shower, got a little snack, cleaned the house up a bit and waited for her to get here. Well when I hadn't heard from her, I checked the flight number and it said she had landed but didn't give a time. So I gave it a while, thinking maybe the plane was delayed getting to the terminal or passengers were taking a long time to get off, etc. When 6:30 rolled around, I had already sent my mom a couple of text messages, I had called her several times and left at least one voicemail, I Facebooked and Gmail chatted, and still hadn't heard anything.
Now I was worried. So I called the rental car company and told the lady on the other end of the phone that my mom should have picked up a car and I wanted to make sure that 1-she picked up the car and 2-if she had I needed to know what time. I was so worried that she had been mugged or abducted or worse. Well the lady on the phone said with an attitude, "Well, we're really busy right now so it's going to take me a while before I can look that up." There was a long pause as I held my tongue and thought how to appropriately respond. So I replied, "Well, my mother rented a car and was supposed to be here a half hour ago. She's not here and I'm worried, so you're going to have to look that up." She gave a 'psh' kind of sound, said hold on a second and then out me on hold. About five seconds later she picked the phone back up and complied with my request.
So now I know that my mom's plane had landed safely and she had rented the car at approximately 1800 (6:00 p.m.), but I still hadn't heard from her. So then I looked up traffic on Google Maps. All traffic seemed to be clear. So I turned on the news to make sure no major accidents had occurred. None had. Given, the time frame, I was going to give my mom another half hour before I called in the National Guard, or at least all of Rap20 to help me find her.
Luckily, she showed up moments later and to my surprise, had Jayne with her. Jayne is a family friend and old neighbor. YAY! So my mom is here safe and sound and so is Jayne. We went out for pizza and although it was a little loud in the place, it was really good pizza. They're still asleep in the living room but we have a full day planned, I think. They want me to show them around town, meet some of the guys, hit up Rocky Boots and do whatever else we feel like.
Oh and did I mention they brought cake? Thank you Heather! Apparently they had offers from the airport staff to buy it for $50. Get off my cake! lol
