Yesterday was a great day. It was Saturday and sort of a lazy day. I went to the gym at about 1300 (1:00 p.m.) and got a really good work out. As much as I hate going to the gym, you feel so much better afterwards. I ran about two miles on the elliptical machine, did 15 minutes of strength training on the bicycle (which is super hard!), did a few sit ups and just a tiny bit of lifting. I ran into the guys leaving the gym as I was headed in and they invited me over for dinner. The plan was to make tacos for Chris since it was his birthday but they changed their minds and we ended up taking him out to a Mexican restaurant we saw in Athens (about 15 minutes down the road). It was a lot of fun.
At the restaurant, it was very crowded and we were told it was a 25 minute wait. We didn't mind so we stuck around and waited for a table. We they seated us they gave us a booth, which would have been fine for let's say six women, but when you have five guys and a girl, and the guys are very broad shouldered, well, it didn't work out too well. Our waitress never showed up for about 10 minutes, not even to take our drink orders, so I politely went up to the counter to ask the hostess to find our waitress, and at the same time I quickly mentioned Chris' birthday. He specifically requested not to be sang to, but I had to do it!
We eventually switched tables as poor Mike was hanging off the edge of his booth seat. Then came the drinks. Matt ordered a regular size margarita and when it came out, the waitress brought him the monster size. She said they didn't have any more regular size cups, so the difference in price was on the house. Then came the food. We sat with our food in front of us for about five minutes with no silverware. When there was no sign of the waitress, Travis went up and got some forks but unfortunately they were out of knives. Also, when the waitress brought out the food, she wasn't sure which number Matt ordered so she brought him two plates. At this point there were so many mistakes that the waitress brought out another pitcher of beer for the guys, on the house. By the time it was all said and done, the waitress split up the bill and somehow, and I have no idea how, they only charged us $6.00 a piece, including Chris' meal which we all split since it was his birthday. I think they felt bad and gave us a ridiculous discount, considering our bills should have been at least $10 a piece, not including drinks.
Before we left, we made sure the waitress came out and sang happy birthday to Chris. They also put a pink sombrero on his head and dipped his chin in fried ice cream. It was hilarious and here's the video...
