So this morning was our first PT Test. It wasn’t too bad but I expected better from myself as did most people. The requirements for me are as follows: 18 pushups in one minute, 35 sit-ups in one minute and a 1.5 mile run in 14:18. I passed the pushups with flying colors and only got 27 sit-ups. I think the workout in the gym a few days prior didn’t help. Just a little more practice and I’ll have it down. The run was a bit harder. I ran a little over a mile on the treadmill a few days ago and had no trouble at all, but when it came time to run around the track, that was a whole different story. One side of the track is hot, very, very hot. I’m not sure why but it just constantly blows out hot air over there. Anyhow, my legs weren’t the problem during the run, I could keep going for another mile, but my breathing was waaay off. Because of the hot air, it made it hard to swallow as you run. One thing leads to another and (this is sort of gross but…) spit builds up in your mouth, your throat gets dry and you have to force yourself to choke down the spit as you run. Yeah, it was pretty nasty. Just try putting yourself in my shoes!
After the run, I went home, showered and came back to class. We only had a four hour block left as we were getting out early, but this section was very boring. It wasn’t the instructor; it was just the material-The history of cops. After class I headed to Athens (the nearest town by 10-15 minutes) with a couple of guys, did a little shopping, grabbed a bite to eat and went home to play Wii. It ended up being a really fun evening.
