Today was the first day at the range. First we had seven hours of class in the classroom about safety and such. We also had to take a nomenclature quiz on all of the gun parts, what each part does, where it goes, etc. It was a tough quiz and I could have done better but I definitely didn't fail it.
These parts mainly fit the 226, not the 228, but same idea...
Oh and P.S.-Never do this...
Last night it rained really hard, AGAIN. And then it snowed. When I drove to school (an entire mile!) I was surprised to see the roads clear and no one in the parking lot. I thought it was early and that's why no one was around. I forgot it was Sunday and normal people aren't in class on Sunday.
The classroom was quite cold today. I think they forgot to turn the heat on because I ended up with six layers of shirts, two pairs of pants and two pairs of socks, and I was still cold. Granted, I'm always cold, but even the guys said it was chilly today.
For the last hour of class, we all drove to the range, set up the tent and learned a few ground rules. Unfortunately it was colder outside, so I put on another layer. I'm still trying to get warm and I'm not looking forward to the rest of this week's weather. It's going to be pretty cold and rainy and we don't have indoor shelter or heaters. Great. Oh and did I mention the RAIN? I don't think it's stopped yet. We are yet again in a flood watch. Every time I think the river is going down, it pops right back up again, usually higher than the last time. At least I'm on the second level of the house. If the basement floods, I'm good! (Except for maybe electricity)
I also got the chance to catch up with Cate today (my former boss and good friend). I was really happy to hear from her. Of course I miss TALMAR (my old job) every day, so it was sad to hear that their coldframe lost its plastic due to the high winds a few weeks ago. Luckily I think I've got a few solutions to help them out. If you'd like to donate, please visit this site...
