Well today was Taser/OC day and unfortunately I did not get Tased nor pepper sprayed. After last year's illness, I promised my mom I wouldn't get Tased, then she didn't have to worry about me becoming part of the 1 in 100,000 statistic of heart incidents. I really wanted to do it but kept my word. It was five seconds of 'riding the lightning' as the guys called it. I think 12 out of the 20 people in our class were Tased.

Later in the day when it was time for OC (pepper spray), I was denied. I couldn't do the Taser, so I really wanted to get sprayed, but the instructors wouldn't let me due to my chronic sinusitis. My argument was that it couldn't possibly get any worse, and if anything, it would clear out my sinuses. They didn't buy it and I ended up taking photos and video of everyone else. I must say, from all the footage I acquired today, it was very hard to hold the camera steady because I was laughing hysterically the whole time, both during the Taser and the OC. And so were a bunch of onlookers. I took most of the pics and videos on other people's cameras so I will post them when they forward all of it to me. I also just created a blog just for that purpose. Our DT Instructors wanted a way to keep in touch with us and they wanted to see all the good shots. Here's the link. NRTIRAP20 stands for National Ranger Training Institute Ranger Academy Program 20.

This morning we had PT for the first time in two weeks. And of course it would make perfect sense to have a mid-way assessment today. Ha. Anyhow, I did very well with the sit ups and push ups. I did 46 sit ups in a minute and 23 push ups in a minute. I only needed 35 sit ups and 18 push ups. Unfortunately I didn't do so well on the run. About half way through, I got a major cramp in my side and had to walk. Eventually I just stopped walking. I'd rather risk it all later when it really counts than now just for PT. I have promised myself that I will work on running more often and for a longer amount of time. We'll see how that goes.

Oh and I passed both the Taser and OC courses. Yay!

(Mike got tased with the probes. You shoot the Taser just like a gun, with either hand, and it shoots two probes into the subject and sends a five second electrical charge. You can press the trigger and send an additional charge if need-be.)

(Mike's wounds after the probes shot him in the back.)

(Richard volunteered to put the 'Taser Suit' on and it must have been pretty hot in there. He was dripping sweat by the time he was done. It was pretty cool having him run around and shoot him though.)
