Today was awesome! I finally learned how to properly fire a handgun. At first it was nerve-wracking. Now it's sort of fun. I'm still nervous that I'll do something wrong, but if I work on the fundamentals I think I'll be OK. My first shot was perfect! Center mass, middle of the paper and everything! Unfortunately it was sort of hit and miss (pun intended) the rest of the day. Some rounds I was on the target pretty good, and some I completely missed!

It was super cold! When we started out this morning, I could have swore that the guns came straight from a freezer. We had to hold the guns in a ready position for quite sometime and it got to the point where my trigger finger and thumb were bright red. I thought I was going to get frostbite. Luckily one of the instructors came up, put his hands on mine and said "You're cold!" I replied with "Yeah!" and thankfully he kept his hands there for a minute to warm mine up. It didn't help much, but it's the thought that counts.

Later in the day it warmed up a bit. It was so nice to stand on the line with six layers on, earplugs, earmuffs, hat, etc. and let the sun shine down on you. It was actually pretty relaxing. It also helped that we had this nifty little heater under our 'tent' which is really just a tarp and the guys cooked a hearty lunch. I had a grilled hot dog and soup. Yum!

For dinner, I was invited over to the 'RAP house' as it has so cleverly been named, where six of the 19 guys reside. Mike was nice enough to make a beef stew for us all and Travis ran to Kroger for some bread and apple pie. Thanks for dinner guys!

Supposedly we are getting off at 1200 (noon) tomorrow. It's on the schedule, but I'm not entirely sure it's true, considering the instructors can do whatever they want. I'm guessing it's correct since we have a six day week and two long ten hour days. If we do get off at 1200, Katherine (Chris' girlfriend) and I are making banana bread after class and we will probably hang out a bit, play X-Box, study and what-not. It's also supposed to be really nice tomorrow, like 55 degrees and sunny. Wednesday I don't think we will be so lucky; they are calling for rain, thunderstorms and cold. Brrr.
