Today was yet again uneventful. If you didn't hear of the Supreme Court Ruling, this will get you up to speed...

Justices Rule for Protesters at Military Funerals

Yes, these people SUCK. I have a hatred towards those who degrade the men and women of our United States Military, especially at the soldier's funeral. However, they do have the right to free speech. I am currently attending school to become a park ranger/police officer. As awful as it sounds, police have to protect the rights of every individual.

Imagine a life where your newspapers couldn't say anything bad about the government. Imagine a life without the right to peaceably assemble. Imagine a life where you couldn't believe in the religion of your choice. Imagine a court system where you weren't able to appeal the court's decision. Thanks to the first amendment and our forefathers who created it, we are afforded these rights, all of us.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Imagine the black cop who has to stand along a parade route to defend the KKK's rights as they march down main street. Yes, unfortunately, the members of KKK have rights too, but if they didn't have rights, none of us would. Do you really think that cop is happy about protecting people that hate him/her. No. I wouldn't be happy either, but I'd do it. Not only because it's my job, but because the United States Constitution is the most important document in our entire history. Without this, we wouldn't be where we are today. So just remember (as Mr. Conder says), the next time you see protestors at a soldier's funeral, pull your car up to the curb, put in a CD of the National Anthem and crank that sucker as loud as it will go. After all, you have rights too.

I'm excited that we have tomorrow off. Of course we do have class Sunday, but it's firearms so it should be interesting. I'm taking the 'weekend' to study all of the parts of the P228. One of the guys in class, Josh, actually made an audio CD of all the P228 parts. Of course he added some weird stuff in there, but that's just a typical guy for you. Anyway, thanks Josh! Hopefully this will help me memorize all of the gun parts and not just the decocking lever. :)
